Career

Denis Hollenstein began his career as an ice hockey player with the Kloten Flyers , in whose youth department he was active until 2007. However, he ended the 2006/07 season at EHC Bülach from the third class first division . The attacker then moved to the Guelph Storm in the Canadian Junior League Ontario Hockey League for two years , for which he scored 39 points in a total of 104 games. For the 2009/10 season he returned to the Kloten Flyers, where he received a professional contract. In November 2012, Hollenstein signed a four-year contract with Genève-Servette HC , which was valid from the 2013/14 season . A year later he made use of a release clause and returned to the Flyers, who were then trained by his father Felix .

In 2017 he no longer saw any sporting prospects at EHC Kloten and signed a five-year contract with the ZSC Lions in November , which was valid from the 2018/19 season.

International

For Switzerland , Hollenstein took part in the 2007 U18 Junior World Championship and the 2008 U20 Junior World Championship .

At the 2012 World Cup he was part of the senior national team for the first time at a major international tournament. The following year he won the silver medal with the senior national team at the 2013 World Cup and was one of the team's top performers with 8 points in 10 games.
