Fredrik Stillman (born August 22, 1966 in Jönköping ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player and coach who played exclusively for HV71 in the Swedish Elitserien and Berlin Capitals in the German ice hockey league from 1982 to 2001 . Since June 2019 he has been working as an assistant trainer for the ZSC Lions .
Career
Fredrik Stillman began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown with HV71 , for whose professional team he made his debut in the second-rate Division 1 in the 1982/83 season . He gave a template in two games. Two years later, the defender and his team achieved promotion to the Elitserien , in which he became Swedish champions for the first time with HV71 in the 1994/95 season . Following this success, he spent a season with the Berlin Capitals in the German Ice Hockey League , in which he scored 32 scorer points in a total of 61 games.
After only one year abroad, Stillman returned to Jönköping in 1996, for which he played another three seasons before he was again on the ice for the Berlin Capitals in the DEL for the 1999/2000 season . For the 2000/01 season , the 1994 Olympic champion played again for Jönköping in the Elitserien and, at the end of his 19-year career, scored 16 points in 42 games, including seven goals. After the season his number 14 was honored by the HV71 and has not been awarded since then.
Following his active career, Stillman was first assistant coach at HV71, with whom he was again champion in the 2003/04 season . When the club replaced him in March 2005 by Göran Sjöberg , he was appointed sports director. He carried out this job continuously until 2014, before he became assistant coach of the HV71 again for the 2014/15 season. From 2015 he held the same position at Admiral Vladivostok before being promoted to head coach in October 2017. At the end of December 2017 he was released in Vladivostok and a few days later he was hired as an assistant coach by HK Sochi . Between May 2018 and January 2019 he was employed in the same position at Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod .
For the 2019/20 season he became an assistant coach at the ZSC Lions .
International
For Sweden Stillman took part in the U20 World Junior Championship in 1986 and the World Championships in 1991 , 1992 , 1993 , 1994 and 1995 . He was also in Sweden's squad at the 1992 Winter Olympics in Albertville and 1994 in Lillehammer .
