Garrett Roe (born February 22, 1988 in Vienna , Virginia ) is an American ice hockey player who has been under contract with the ZSC Lions in the National League since the 2019/20 season .

Career

Roe began his career in the 2004/05 season with the Indiana Ice in the junior league United States Hockey League and completed two more seasons for the club. Between 2007 and 2011, the attacker played on the university team of St. Cloud State University in the Western Collegiate Hockey Association , which is part of the NCAA .

In the summer of 2011, the Adirondack Phantoms from the American Hockey League signed him, so the American completed his first professional season in the 2011/12 season. Roe scored 66 scorer points in 129 AHL games during his two-year stint with the Phantoms . For the 2013/14 season the striker moved to Europe and signed a one-year contract with the Austrian EBEL club EC Red Bull Salzburg .

In the summer of 2014 he was transferred to the EHC Red Bull Munich in the German Ice Hockey League , where Roe played with jersey number 9 in the 2014/15 season. After the end of the season, he used a release clause that only applied to Switzerland and terminated his current contract. Then he was under contract with Genève-Servette HC for three weeks before he changed clubs again and went to the Svenska Hockeyligan for Linköpings HC .

In April 2017 Roe signed a two-year contract with EV Zug in the National League A before moving to the ZSC Lions for the 2019/20 season.

Internationally, he represented his home country at the 2018 Winter Olympics and finished seventh there with the team that competed without an NHL player.
