Roman Wick (born December 30, 1985 in Zuzwil ) is a Swiss ice hockey player who has been under contract with the ZSC Lions in the National League A since 2012 .
Career
Roman Wick began his career as a hockey player in 2002 with the Kloten Flyers , for whom he had already played in his youth. His father, Marcel Wick , had already played for Kloten. For the Flyers he first played for two years in the National League A , before he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft 2004 in the fifth round as a total of 156 players by the Ottawa Senators . Between 2004 and 2006, the winger went on the ice in the Western Hockey League for the Red Deer Rebels and the Lethbridge Hurricanes , before returning to Switzerland to his ex-club Kloten Flyers before the 2006/07 season, for which he played until 2010 .
On July 13, 2010, his contract signature for the 2010/11 season with the Ottawa Senators from the National Hockey League was announced. Wick received in Ottawa a two-way contract for one season and thereby the authorization to be ordered on the farm team to the Binghamton Senators in the American Hockey League . After completing the training camp with the Ottawa Senators, the decision was made in September 2010 to deliver Wick as one of 16 players to the farm team in Binghamton.
In late February 2011, Wick was reassigned to the Senators squad and made his debut on February 25, 2011 in the National Hockey League. After another deportation to the farm team, he won the Calder Cup , the championship of the AHL, with the Binghamton Senators in the same season .
After seven appearances in the NHL, Wick returned to his home club, the Kloten Flyers, for the 2011/12 season. He signed a three-year contract there.
Since 2012 Roman Wick has played for the cantonal rival ZSC Lions . In 2019 he announced his retirement at the end of the 2019/20 season.
International
For Switzerland , Wick took part in the 2003 U18 Junior World Championship and the 2005 U20 Junior World Championship . Furthermore, Wick was in the Swiss squad at the A World Championships in 2008 and 2009 . Wick also took part in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver with the Swiss national team. He reached the eighth tournament rank with the team. Wick scored five points in five games.
