Zuzwil (oldest documented mention: Zuocewilare ) is a political municipality in the canton of St. Gallen in Switzerland .

The municipality located in the Fürstenland between Wil SG and Uzwil , on the border with the canton of Thurgau , includes the villages of Zuzwil , Züberwangen and Weieren . Zuzwil is on Hauptstrasse 7 .

history

In the year 754 the village of Züberwangen was mentioned for the first time according to the Henauer deed . The area around Zuzwil was settled by the Alemanni around 1500 years ago .

Since 1960, Zuzwil has developed into a place of residence with a corresponding infrastructure. The population in the low-tax community has almost quadrupled during this time.

Weeping

Weieren was an independent municipality until the canton of St. Gallen was founded in 1803. The oldest known document from Weieren comes from a donation from the year 762. In 2004 Züberwangen / Weieren celebrated its 1250th anniversary (see Henauer document from the year 754).

Overwhelmed

Züberwangen has 1,373 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2008). As with Weieren, Züberwangen was first mentioned in the Henau document . Until the founding of the Canton of St. Gallen in 1803, Züberwangen was an independent municipality.
