Municipalities of the Canton of St. Gallen

The canton of St. Gallen comprises 77  political communities as of January 1, 2015. There are also 37  school communities , 98  local communities , 71 local corporations, 14 local civil corporations, 297 municipalities according to municipal law and 59 special-purpose associations.

The municipalities of the canton of St. Gallen were part of the districts until the end of 2002 , today they are part of the larger constituencies. This change was made due to the new cantonal constitution of June 10, 2001. The constituencies have no main towns .
