Eichberg is a political municipality in the cultural landscape of the St. Gallen Rhine Valley in the canton of St. Gallen in eastern Switzerland . Eichberg belongs politically to the constituency of the Rhine Valley .

geography

Eichberg is located south of the town of Altstätten in the Rhine Valley . Neighboring communities of Eichberg are Altstätten in the north and east , Oberriet in the south, Rüte ( AI ) in the south-west and Gais ( AR ) in the north-west .

In the north of Eichberg lies the Hinterforst district , which together with the Altstätter Hinterforst forms a school community.

politics

Mayor is Alex Arnold ( CVP ). In the direct election in September 2012, as a member of the Pirate Party, he prevailed with 62.9% of the votes against two representatives of the SVP . In April 2014 he moved to the CVP.
