As a result of the rupture of the Rorschach monastery , Andwil was made federal in 1490, but was then sold to the abbot; Andwil is now finally abbot. The parish church and the cross- ridge frame house "Hirschen" were built in 1732 from the chunky stones of the Andwil castle ruins .
