Philippe Leuba (born December 9, 1965 ) is a Swiss politician ( FDP , formerly LPS ), son of the Vaudois politician Jean-François Leuba and a former football referee . Like his father, he is a member of the Zofingia .

education and profession

After the Matura type E , Leuba studied law at the University of Geneva and graduated with a degree . He also has certificates for English and Latin .

From 2000 to 2005 he was director of a property manager and from 2005 to 2007 he was secretary general of the Fédération romande immobilière and director of the Chambre vaudoise immobilière .

politics

Leuba's first political office was the post of general secretary of the Liberal Party of the Canton of Vaud , which he took up in 1991. In 1998 he was elected to the Grand Council . After two years in office, in 2000 he was appointed Vice-President of the Finance Commission of the Grand Council. In 2001 he was elected to the municipal council of Chexbres . In the general elections in 2002 he was confirmed in his office as Grand Councilor. He took over the presidency of the parliamentary group of the Liberal Party in the Grand Council and gave up his post in the finance commission. In 2007 the next general renewal elections were due, in which he was confirmed again. In the same year he was elected to the State Council on July 1st . Leuba has headed the Interior Department since 2007 .

referee

Leuba started playing football at the age of 9. Although he was in the first team of the local club, he decided in 1983 to change to the referee. In 1993 he directed his first game then in the former National League A . After six years he was one of Switzerland's seven international referees. His greatest success was leading the 2002 Cup final between the Grasshoppers and FC Basel . On December 31, 2005, he decided to retire from his active career.

Philippe Leuba's father, Jean-François Leuba, was also the State Councilor of the Canton of Vaud , National Councilor and President of the Inter-Jurassic Assembly . In 1993 Philippe Leuba published a book of fables with the title La cohésion fédérale, le chêne et le roseau by Editions Libertas Suisse . His last military conscription to the Swiss Army was the first lieutenant colonel in the general staff of the Région territoriale .

Leuba is married and has two children. He lives in Chexbres .
