At the Junior World Championship in 2007 he came in 14th in the super combined and 15th in the giant slalom. He won further World Cup points with rank 17 in the first slalom of Sattel , which put him in 38th place in the overall World Cup in the 2007 season. In the 2008 season , Balek could not achieve World Cup points, but he came in the giant slalom of Castione della Presolana on July 12th for the first time among the top ten in an FIS race. At the Junior World Championships in 2008 he achieved similar results as in the previous year: 13th place in the Super-G and 14th place in the giant slalom. In the 2009 season , Balek was able to score twice in World Cup races. In Wilhelmsburg he finished 24th in the super combined and in Čenkovice 22nd in the second slalom. This put him in 32nd place overall. At the 2009 Junior World Championships in Horní Lhota , he was among the top ten in all four competitions, and a year later at the 2010 Junior World Championships in Dizin he succeeded in two competitions.

Balek achieved his best World Cup result so far on August 22, 2010 with twelfth place in the Faistenau slalom . After that, he did not take part in any competitions in the 2010 season, which is why he fell back to 47th place in the overall World Cup. In the 2011 season , a 15th place in the Super-G in Marbachegg was his only World Cup result. At the Junior World Championships 2011 in Goldingen he achieved similar results as in previous years with seventh place in the giant slalom and tenth place in the Super-G. In the slalom and thus also in the combination, he failed. For the first time this year he also took part in a world championship in the general class, which took place at the same time as the Junior World Championships. There he started in the Super-G and in the Super-Combined and achieved a placement in the midfield in the Super-Combined with rank 13, while he failed in the Super-G. In the 2012 season, Balek did not participate in any competitions.
