Horní Lhota (German Oberellgoth , formerly Ober Ellgoth ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic . It is located 16 kilometers west of the city center of Ostrava and belongs to the Okres Ostrava-město .

geography

Horní Lhota is located in Lower Jeseníky at the foot of the Úhorky hill (404 m). To the south lies the Porůbka valley . The overland tram runs along the Porůbka from Ostrava -Vřesinská to Zátiší.

Neighboring towns are Josefovice in the north, Velká Polom in the northeast, Mlýnek in the east, Dolní Lhota in the southeast, Zátiší and Čavisov in the south, Kyjovice in the southwest, Zálučí and Budišovice in the west and Hrabyně in the northwest.

history

The first written mention of the village took place in 1441 together with Budišovic as part of the Hrabyně rule. In 1619 the prashma of Bilkau acquired the village and attached it to the rule of Velká Polom. Under the Count Vlček von Dobrá Zemice , Ober Ellgoth was added to the Koenigsberg rule at the end of the 17th century and remained subject to it until the patrimonial rule was abolished.

From 1850 Ober Ellgoth / Horní Lhota formed a municipality in the Opava district . In 1896 the village was assigned to the Wagstadt district . In 1926, the local railway from Svinov to Kyjovice-Budišovice began operating in the Porůbka valley , where Horní Lhota was given a train station. In 1930 there were 537 people living in the village; in 1939 there were 579.

As a result of the Munich Agreement , Horní Lhota was added to the German Reich on October 1, 1938 and until 1945 belonged to the Wagstadt district as Oberellgoth . After the Second World War, Horní Lhota came back to Czechoslovakia.

In the course of the territorial reform of 1960, the Okres Bílovec was dissolved, Horní Lhota came to Okres Opava at the beginning of 1961 . In 1982 Horní Lhota was incorporated into Velká Polom. In 1990 the Horní Lhota municipality was re-established. Since January 1st 2007 it belongs to the Okres Ostrava-město . The village consists of 170 houses.
