Hrabyně (also Hrabina or Robin , German Hrabin ) is located in the Moravskoslezský kraj in the Czech Republic .

location

Hrabin is located 8 km south of Kravaře , 10 km west of Hlučín , 13 km north of Bílovec and 13 km southeast of the district town of Opava .

history

Hrabyně belonged to the Duchy of Opava and was first mentioned in 1377 when, after the death of Duke Nicholas II, the duchy was divided among his four sons, with the additional duchies of Ratibor , Jägerndorf and Leobschütz . Hrabin remained with the Duchy of Opava and came as a fief to Heinrich von Bítov ( Jindřich z Bětova also z Bítova ), with whose descendants it remained until 1528. They built a wooden chapel around 1497, which was dedicated to the Assumption. In 1528 Heinrich von Füllstein acquired Hrabyně, who soon afterwards gave it to Heinrich Schipa von Branitz ( Jindřich Šípa z Branice ). In 1535 it came to Georg / Jiří von Tvorkov on Radun ( Jiří Tvorkovský na Raduni ).

After the death of Berthold / Pertold von Tvorkov in 1637, the indebted lands were handed over to guarantors. They sold the property to Maria Magdalena Donat, who she resold to her husband Heinrich Karl Donat von Groß Pahlom . Count Albrecht von Grzymała followed in 1678 and, after his death, his wife, who bequeathed the property to her brother Johann Franz Rembovský von Rembov , who sold it to Maximilian Mitrowsky von Nemischl in 1687 . Under this family, the Church of the Assumption of Mary and a hospital were built on the site of the wooden chapel and the former fortress was converted into a baroque palace. In 1780, Emperor Joseph II made Hrabyně a town in his capacity as King of Bohemia and also granted it the privilege of holding six annual fairs. In 1832 ownership passed to Ernst Otto Ritter von Badenfeld and then to the German Order of Knights . In 1938, Hrabyně was incorporated into the German Empire and the Teutonic Order expropriated. Until 1945 the village belonged to the district of Opava . At the end of the war in 1945, Hrabyně suffered great damage.
