history

The village of Creuczenburg was first mentioned in a document in 1377 when the Duchy of Opava was divided into inheritance by the sons of Duke Nicholas II. It belonged to the Krahují manor, which perished at the end of the 15th century. In the course of time the name of the place changed to Kreuzberg and the feudal men changed frequently. Heinrich Kosíř von Creuczenburg owned the place in 1429. In 1439 the village was divided between Dětoch von Schönwald and Dětoch von Čochtendorf. Subsequently, the Stosch von Kaunitz and Herren von Würben and Freudenthal were enfeoffed with Kreuzberg.

In 1620 Karl von Liechtenstein bought Kreuzberg and incorporated the village into the ducal chamber rule. Until the end of the patrimonial rule in 1848, Kreuzberg remained the direct property of the Duchy of Opava and then became an independent municipality in the political district of Opava. The seat of the court was Wigstadtl . In 1930 Kreuzberg had 209 inhabitants and in Alt Lublitz there were 438.

After the Munich Agreement , the place, which had a German-speaking majority, was added to the German Reich and until 1945 belonged to the Troppau district . After the Second World War, the German residents were expelled.

Between 1949 and 1960 Kružberk was part of the Okres Vítkov and came back to the Okres Opava after its dissolution during the territorial reform . In 1952 the communes Staré Lublice and Kružberk were merged to form the commune Lublice , whose name was changed to Kružberk in 1962 . In 1955 the construction of the Kružberk dam was completed. Between 1973 and 1978 the municipalities of Kružberk and Nové Lublice were united. In 1979 it was incorporated into Budišov nad Budišovkou . In 1990, Kružberk, including the Staré Lublice district, regained its independence.

Below the dam are the Cvičné skály, which are used as practice rocks for rock climbers.
