Raduň (German Radun ) is a municipality in the Moravskoslezský kraj region ( Czech Republic ).
location
Radun occupies an area of 802 hectares, on which 985 people live. It is located in the valley of the river Raduňka , not far from Opava . To the south of the village there is a landscape park with numerous touristic signposted paths, romantic corners and man-made viewpoints. So you can from the hills of the landscape of Troppauhöhe admire and with good weather appears on the horizon Ostsudeten with Mount Altvater . There are numerous ponds north of the municipality. At the deepest pond, the oldest tree grows in a circle, a 400 year old oak with a trunk circumference of 6 meters.
history
The village was first mentioned in writing in 1322. Due to the location of the village on the so-called Jadeweg, it gained strategic importance. Soon a fortress and the Raduň Castle were built here.
After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Empire and until 1945 belonged to the district of Opava .
