Location of Welxande in Saxony

Welxande is a district of the municipality of Thiendorf in the district of Meißen in Saxony .

It was first mentioned as Welingsande in 1406 in connection with the first state tax paid to the sovereign .

The remainder of a Sorbian round wall in the swampy alder forest near the village is evidence of a Sorbian settlement in the area . The researchers call it the "Big Hill". The Sorbs would retreat into such round walls with all their belongings when their enemies approached.

According to its layout, it is a line village with a corridor . In front of the village is the Jentzschmühle, an old watermill with a pond. The place was written Wellingassaride in 1418 , Wellingessande in 1420 and Welligisand in 1441 . Welxande has been a parish of Sacka since 1540.

Today Welxande is a popular residential area for the municipality. This is evidenced by the many newly built homes as well as the renovated farmsteads and a block of flats with 24 residential units. The close proximity to nature on the one hand and the convenient transport connections ( A 13 and B 98 are 1 km away and can be reached via Thiendorf) on the other hand make Welxande attractive for people who want to move from the greater Dresden area (the state capital Dresden is approx. 20 km south).
