Life

Prince Blücher von Wahlstatt was one of the great feudal landowners in Silesia . His goods were not only in the Prussian part, but thanks to his maternal inheritance also in the Austrian part of Silesia. He was not only ruler of Wahlstatt and of the Krieblowitz Majorate in Prussia, but also of the extensive lordships of Raduň , Podwihof, Tiefengrund, Brosdorf, Striebnick, Stauding and Polanska in the Austro-Hungarian monarchy. When his father died, he also inherited his hereditary seat in the Prussian mansion, which the crown had granted to his father in 1861. Blücher left the manor house in 1899 because he no longer had the Prussian subject status necessary for membership in the manor house. Because he was Catholic, he was also made a Knight of Honor of the Sovereign Knight of Malta .

Gebhard Leberecht Blücher von Wahlstatt was married three times. First since October 2, 1860 with Princess Marie von Lobkowitz (1841-1870), then since July 27, 1889 with Countess Elisabeth von Perponcher-Sedlnitzky (1858-1894) and finally since May 6, 1895 with the 41 years younger Princess Wanda Radziwiłł (1877–1966), a daughter of Prince Wilhelm Radziwiłł (1845–1911) and his notorious wife Catherine Rzewuska . Blücher had a total of 10 children; 5 each from the 1st and 2nd marriage.

From 1889 to 1914 he leased the British channel island Herm and built a country estate there. After his death on July 12, 1916 in Krieblowitz, his eldest son Gebhard von Blücher , the 4th Prince Blücher von Wahlstatt (1865–1931), inherited him .
