Sedlnitzky von Choltitz
The Sedlnitzky (Czech Sedlnitzký z Choltic or Sedlničtí z Choltic ) are a Moravian - Silesian noble family, probably descended from the Bohemian noble family of the Beneschauer . The coat of arms Sedlnitzky (see. Polish Coats ), white arrow , directed upwards, a mustache by pushing on a red background, and the epithet Odrowąż , which is run by the family, also point to a connection with the Polish families of Szlachta out .
history
The head office was originally in Choltice near Chrudim in Bohemia and was moved to Moravia at the beginning of the 14th century, where Peter von Choltitz acquired the Erb-Sedlnitz rule in 1373 and his descendants had adopted the addition of Sedlnitzky to their name . In 1401 Závěšice near Neutitschein was owned by a Nikolaus von Choltitz . It was around this time that the sex branched out.
As lords of Troppau and Neutitschein, the Sedlnitzky held some fiefs of the Olomouc bishopric , for which they also held numerous offices.
On September 8, 1546, the Sedlnitzky were accepted into the lordship of the Kingdom of Bohemia . Subsequently, some family members were given high government and administrative positions. They were less successful as administrators. At the beginning of the 17th century they became increasingly indebted and lost large parts of their lands.
The family branch residing in Troppau and Neutitschein received the title of Imperial Count on September 16, 1695.
The second branch, which owned lands in the Duchy of Teschen , was accepted into the baron class.
Peter Sedlnitzky von Choltitz the Elder had to leave Bohemia as one of the leaders of the class uprising and died in 1622 in exile in the Duchy of Jülich . The Perponcher-Sedlnitzky line emerged from the marriage of his daughter Anna to Isaac de Perponcher.
The Sedlnitzky residing on Wagstadt received the title of Count in 1911. As one of 64 counts, it had a seat in the manor house , the upper house of the Austrian Imperial Council .
The family Widmann-Sedlnitzky is despite the name an independent noble family, the name Sedlnitzky on Marriage Anton Frh. V. Widmanns with Countess Leopoldine Sedlnitzky von Choltitz "inherited" as a name affix in the course of the elevation to the hereditary count status.
Descendants of the Sedlnitzky family and the Perponcher-Sedlnitzky family still live today. a. in Germany and Austria.

- Albrecht Sedlnitzky von Choltitz ( Albrecht Sedlnický z Choltic ) was a district judge and from 1596 to 1606 governor of the Duchy of Opava and in 1599 deputy to the highest chamberlain.
- Albrecht the Elder of Sedlnitzky ( Albrecht starší Sedlnický ) († 1628) was a supporter of the radical wing in the class uprising in Moravia and a close collaborator of Ladislav Velen from Žerotín . He belonged to the board of directors of the estate government and was appointed chamberlain to King Friedrich of the Palatinate . In addition, as governor of the Olomouc district, he participated in the sale of the imperial property. In 1620 he represented the Moravian estates at the general assembly in Prague.
- Karl Christoph von Sedlnitzky auf Maidelberg ( Karel Kryštof Sedlnický na Dívčím Hradě ) (1576–1651) also belonged to the radical wing of the class uprising and to the Moravian directors and defensors. He took part in the General Assembly in Prague and was a member of various commissions. After the Battle of the White Mountain , his property was confiscated. In 1622 he emigrated to Pomerania .

- Josef von Sedlnitzky ( Josef Václav Sedlnitzký ) was the Vienna police chief.
- Wenzel von Sedlnitzky ( Václav Sedlnický ) owned Wagstadt and was appointed governor and president of the regional court.
