Friedrich Wilhelm Karl August Graf von Perponcher-Sedlnitzky (born August 11, 1821 in Berlin ; † March 21, 1909 there ) was a Prussian general of the cavalry and court official.

Life

Friedrich was a son of the Dutch general of the infantry and envoy Hendrik George de Perponcher-Sedlnitzki (1771-1856) and his wife Wilhelmine Friederike Adelheid, née Countess van Reede dead Ginkel (born December 27, 1792 in Berlin; † September 1, 1861 in Dresden ).

Perponcher attended the Friedrichswerder high school in Berlin and joined the Guard Cuirassier Regiment of the Prussian Army on June 1, 1840 as a cuirassier . As a second lieutenant , he was commanded as a military advisor to Prince George of Prussia at the end of June 1846 and appointed personal adjutant in January 1849 . In February 1859 he brought the news to the British court of the birth of the Prussian heir to the throne, later Wilhelm II. At the beginning of April 1864, Perponcher resigned from his employment and was transferred to the officers of the cavalry on leave . Subsequently, he was appointed court marshal of King Wilhelm I. He accompanied him to his headquarters in 1866 during the war against Austria and took part in the battle of Königgrätz . After the Peace of Prague , Perponcher was promoted to lieutenant colonel and awarded the Order of the Crown, Second Class with Swords.

During the Franco-Prussian War , Perponcher was again at the King's headquarters, participated in the battles at Gravelotte and Sedan and the siege of Paris , and received the Iron Cross, 2nd class. Under awarding of the character as a major general , he was to the officers on 22 March 1872 à la suite provided the army. From 1884 to 1888 Perponcher was upper court and house marshal of Wilhelm I and director of the royal palaces. After the emperor's death he became head of the court of Empress Augusta . In later years he served as a chamberlain.

Wilhelm II gave Perponcher the character of General of the Cavalry on October 18, 1904. He was also a legal knight of the Order of St. John and owner of the Grand Cross of the Red Eagle Order with Chain and the Star of the Commander of the Royal House Order of Hohenzollern .

Perponcher had on April 28, 1867 in Behle with the Wanda Reichsgräfin von Moltke (born March 3, 1840 in Neustrelitz , † December 2, 1911 in Godesberg ), daughter of the Grand Ducal Mecklenburg-Strelitz master stable master Karl Reichsgraf von Moltke, Majorate of Behle and Lemnitz, and his second wife Marie, née von Roeder married.
