Bílovec ( German  Wagstadt ) is a city in the Czech Republic in the Moravskoslezský kraj .

Geographical location

The city is located in Moravian Silesia in the city triangle Ostrava ( Ostrau ), Opava ( Troppau ), Nový Jičín ( New Titschein ).

history

Bílovec was first mentioned in 1276. The city was founded between 1316 and 1324 by Wok von Krawarn , the earliest mention of Woogstadt comes from 1324. In the 17th century it was an important center of the textile industry.

After the Munich Agreement , the place was the German Reich slammed and belonged until 1945 to the district Wagstadt , Region of Opava , in the Reich District of Sudetenland . Due to the Beneš decrees , the German part of the population was expropriated and expelled in 1945 .

Bílovec was a district town until 1960.

The towns of Bravinné ( Brawin ) with Dolní Nový Dvůr ( Untereuhof ) and Horní Nový Dvůr ( Oberneuhof ), Labuť ( Wipplarsdorf ), Lhotka ( Blaschdorf ), Lubojaty ( Laubias ), Ohrada ( Ohrad ), Požaha ( Poschaha ) are part of the town of Bílovec . Radotín ( Radnitz ), Stará Ves ( old town ) and Výškovice ( Wischkowitz ) are incorporated.
