history

The place was founded around 1169 as the property of the Raigern Benedictine monastery . The name Deutsch Jaßnik appears in the oldest documents. At the beginning of the 18th century, Rudolf von Witten had a small baroque castle built as a mansion near the manorial estate. This included a meierhof, a brewery and a park with a large castle pond (the castle is still well preserved today). The place is on the Vienna – Krakow railway line, the so-called Kaiser Ferdinand's Northern Railway, opened in 1846 . The Church of the Assumption of Mary (from before 1383) was Protestant from 1560 to 1624. In 1752 it was redesigned in baroque style and rebuilt in the 19th century. The main line of business was agriculture. The grand distillery was used as a liqueur and vinegar factory from 1829. The largest commercial operation was the stately steam mill. The Sauerbrunn , a mineral-rich spring , was also known beyond the borders of the village . In 1930 there were 1,102 Germans, 104 Czechs and 12 foreigners living in the community.

After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Reich and belonged to the Neu Titschein district until 1945 . Hrabětice was incorporated in 1957, Polouvsí in 1975 and Blahutovice and Hůrka in 1976.

Recently, the cultural efforts of the union community were awarded the “Golden Ribbon” when participating in the national competition “Village of the Year 2013” of the Ministry for Regional Development in Prague. In 2014 Jeseník nad Odrou took part in the European Village Renewal Award competition.
