Závišice (German Sawersdorf ) is a place in Okres Nový Jičín in the Moravskoslezský kraj region (Czech Republic).

history

The first written mention comes from 1354.

In the middle of the 13th century, the village became the property of the knight Siegfried, who received it from Arnold von Hückeswagen as a reward for helping with the renovation of Alt Titschein Castle and the construction of Hukvaldy Castle . Siegfried had a stone fortress built in the village. In 1256 the Olomouc bishops divided the village into two districts. Unter-Sawersdorf became the property of the diocese, Ober-Sawersdorf remained in the hands of the previous owners. Later the lands belonged to the lords of Füllstein , Vikštejn , Sedlnitzky , the Puklinové of Pozořice, the Schwarzenbergs , the lords of Auspitz and those of Fulnek . Unter-Sawersdorf was given by the diocese to various lords as fiefdoms.

In 1554 the place was divided again into Groß-Salewitz as a fiefdom and Klein-Salewitz as an inheritance. During this time the fortress was abandoned and lost in importance. In 1839 the bishopric was sold to the residents due to a decree by Emperor Ferdinand I. In 1850 the two villages were reunited.

In the course of its history the village was also called Závěšice, Syfridsdorf, Zayfidsdorf, Zawischicze, Sigfridi Villa, Sawieschitz, Zawischice .

After the Munich Agreement , the place was added to the German Reich and belonged to the Neu Titschein district until 1945 .
