history

The Waldhufendorf was probably founded at the end of the 13th century during the development of the country by the Count von Hückeswagen, who had inherited the area from the Olomouc bishop Bruno von Schauenburg since the middle of the 13th century . According to a document that has not been preserved, Heinrich von Freiberg auf Schauenstein , a son of Franco von Hückeswagen auf Hochwald , is said to have granted Vogt Hermann a privilege to do so in 1293. After Heinrich von Freiberg died without descendants, Bishop Theoderich von Neuhaus enfeoffed Gerlach von Hotzenplotz in 1299 with the area between the Ostrawitza and the Sedlnitz for the purpose of further settlement. The oldest verifiable mention of the village was made in 1320 under the property of Schauenstein Castle. After the rule of Schauenstein was attached to Hochwald in 1437 and pledged to Johann Czazek von Saan , the village belonged to the rule of Hochwald. In 1539 the privilege was renewed for Vogt Pavel Kyč with reference to the document from 1293. The village of Lichnov, consisting of 70 hooves, stretched from the marrow sheath on the Lubina to the Vernyřov border. The Vogt owned two hooves of land and had the right to set up a free two-wheeled grinding mill, to settle a blacksmith, baker, butcher and shoemaker and to a third of the court money. The other residents of the village were required to use robots on the manorial Meierhof in Nesselsdorf . After several pledges, the Hochwald reign was redeemed in 1581 by Bishop Stanislaus Pavlovský von Pavlovitz and thereafter always remained in the possession of the Olomouc bishopric.

In the middle of the 17th century a wooden church surrounded by a cemetery was built, which belonged to the parish of Frankstadt . Due to the proximity to the Vogteiteich the cemetery was wet; the graves had to remain shallow and had to be scooped out by the gravedigger before the burial so that the coffins did not float in the water. The oldest local seal comes from the middle of the 18th century; it shows a hook plow and above it two crossed tools, which cannot be further identified. From 1776 school lessons began in two chalets, before the children were taught in Frankstadt. In 1784 the Religionsfonds donated a locality in Lichnau , to which Bordowitz was also parish. The following year the community made the poor house available as a school building. The old wooden church had become so bad over the years through the weather and the groundwater of the Vogteiteich that it was threatened with collapse. In 1786, therefore, the construction of a new stone church began below the pond, which was consecrated in 1794. A parsonage was built around 1800 on a plot of land given by Vogt Kašpárek. In 1804 the poor house was converted into a school house. In 1810 Weltschowitz was re- parish to Lichnau.

In 1835 the village of Lichnau or Lichnow , located in the Prerauer district on the road from Freiberg to Frankstadt , consisted of 164 houses in which 924 people lived. The main source of income was cattle breeding, wood processing and carting; agriculture was not very bearable. The church of St. Peter and Paul, the locality and the school were under the patronage of the religious fund. In Lichnau Kalkeisenstein inferior quality was recovered. Lichnau was the parish and school location for Bordowitz and Weltschowitz. The seat of the Oberamt was Hochwald . Until the middle of the 19th century, Lichnau remained subject to the prince- archbishop's feudal lordship of Hochwald.

After the abolition of patrimonial Lichnov / Lichnau formed a municipality in the judicial district of Frankstadt from 1849 . The forester's house was given up due to the decline in the forests between Lichnov and Frankstadt and converted into an excursion and relaxation inn. During this time, a large wave of emigration to North America - especially to Texas - began, which lasted until the beginning of the 20th century. In August and October 1866, over 50 residents died of cholera . From 1869 Lichnov belonged to the Mistek district . At that time the village had 1175 inhabitants and consisted of 196 houses. In 1883 the construction of a new school building began for 6,885 guilders, in which two-class classes were taught the following year and three-class classes from 1889. At the end of the 19th century the cemetery was enlarged. Between 1895 and 1900 the community had the former poor house demolished and its own inn built in its place. In 1905 the Vogteiteich was abandoned and the dam was removed; this also led to a lowering of the water table in the cemetery. In 1900 there were 1261 people in Lichnov, in 1910 there were 1387. In 1930 Lichnov consisted of 258 houses and had 1505 inhabitants. After the Munich Agreement, the Lachish-speaking village remained with the "remaining Czech Republic" in 1938 and belonged to the Friedberg district; the border with the German Empire ran north and west of Lichnov. In 1949 Lichnov was assigned to the newly formed Okres Frenštát pod Radhoštěm, which was repealed during the territorial reform of 1960. In 1950 Lichnov had 1,454 inhabitants. Since 1961 the community belongs to Okres Nový Jičín . After the new elementary school was completed in the same year, the old schoolhouse was used as a kindergarten, the municipal administration office and a ballroom. In 1982 the new kindergarten was inaugurated, and the post office moved into its previous premises in the old school . Since 1993 the community has had a coat of arms and a banner. In the 2001 census, there were 1,317 people living in Lichnov's 448 houses.
