Franco von Hückeswagen

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Franco von Hückeswagen (mentioned 1240 to approx. 1277), also Frank von Hukenwald and von Vriburch , were descendants of the Counts of Hückeswagen, sovereign in Moravia ( Lachei ).

Franco von Hückeswagen was a son of Arnold von Hückeswagen and his wife Adela. Together with his brother Heinrich, he sold the county of Hückeswagen to the Counts of Berg. On July 6, 1260, the two waived all inheritance claims against Margarete von Berg . The historical sources depict Franco as a rather weak sovereign in Moravia. The family lost large parts of his property - besides Hückeswagen also those in Moravia. Between 1250 and 1260 he sold the Hukenwald rule and the town of Frideberch with 40 Lahn to Bishop Bruno von Schauenburg , who enfeoffed him with the western part of the rule including the town of Vriburch . Since then he and his descendants have used the title comes de Vriburch ( Count of Freiberg ). He left the church patronage in Vriburch and 50 Lahn to found a new village (most likely Theodorici villa or Dětřichovice , now Mniší , Drnholec nad Lubinou and Větřkovice ) to the Cistercian monastery Velehrad .

With his wife Troizlava he had two sons: Bludo and Heinrich de Vriburch. Franco died before 1277.
