history
"According to documents in the Colmar archive , Grißheim was first mentioned in 805 in the records of the Murbach Imperial Abbey as" villa Gresheim in pago Brisachgaginse ". 1185 appears in the documents "Crisheim", 1481 "Grissen" and later the current name. The extensive burial ground from the 6th century gives evidence of the Alemannic era. The village later belonged to the lordship of the Counts of Freiburg and then became a fiefdom of the Barons of Staufen . On May 3, 1315, Brother Hermann zu Hachberg, Commander of the Order of St. John, bought the village of "Crisheim" from Diethelm von Staufen for 280 silver marks . After the Thirty Years War , Grissheim was almost extinct. In the middle of the 17th century there was a large influx from Switzerland. In the course of secularization, Grißheim became a Grand Ducal Baden property on April 15, 1805 . In 1850 Grißheim counted 1,057 souls. There was great poverty. A new era began for Grißheim with the construction of the potash salt mine in Buggingen . Its residents no longer lived from the yield of the barren soil alone, but from the secure earnings of a job. After the Second World War, the village and the church from 1756 were severely damaged. "
On January 1, 1974, Grissheim was incorporated into the city of Neuchâtel.
