Jamaica took part in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary, Canada with four athletes.
It was Jamaica's first participation in the Winter Olympics .
The only starters in the country were the members of the Jamaican bobsleigh team , which caused a stir in the media as a curiosity, but remained insignificant in terms of sport. The four-man bobsleigh crashed and did not make it into the final ranking, while the two-man bobsleigh at least reached the finish and finished 30th out of 41 bobsleighs that had started.
