Jens Erik Öhling (born April 3, 1962 in Stockholm ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player .

Career

Jens Öhling began his career as an ice hockey player with NSA-76 , for whose professional team he was active from 1977 to 1979 in Division 1 , the second Swedish division. He then moved to Djurgårdens IF from the Elitserien , where he was one of the leading players for the next 18 years. With the capital club, the winger won the Swedish championship title at national level in 1983, 1989, 1990 and 1991 . In 1990 and 1991 he and his team also won the European Ice Hockey Cup . For the 1997/98 season , the two-time Olympian moved within the Elitserien to Södertälje SK . With this he rose at the end of the season in the second-rate Division 1, whereupon he ended his career at the age of 36 years.

In his honor, his jersey number 11 was banned by Djurgårdens IF and will no longer be given to any other player.

International

For Sweden , Öhling took part in the junior division at the U18 European Junior Championships in 1979 and 1980 and the U20 Junior World Championships in 1981 and 1982 . At the U18 European Championship in 1980 he and his team won the bronze medal, and at the U20 World Cup in 1981, the gold medal.

In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the World Championships in 1985 and 1989 and at the Winter Olympics in Sarajevo in 1984 and in Calgary in 1988 . At both Winter Olympics he won bronze medals with Sweden.
