Jonas Bergqvist (born September 26, 1962 in Hässleholm ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player who played for the Calgary Flames in the National Hockey League and the Mannheim ERC in the ice hockey Bundesliga during his active time from 1981 to 1999 .

Career

Jonas Bergqvist began his career as a hockey player at Leksands IF , for which he was active in the Elitserien from 1981 to 1989 . During this period, the attacker was selected in the 1988 NHL Entry Draft in the sixth round as a total of 126 players by the Calgary Flames . For the Flames he played in the 1989/90 season in the National Hockey League as well as for their farm team from the International Hockey League , the Salt Lake Golden Eagles . In his rookie year , he scored a total of seven points scorer in 22 NHL appearances, including two goals. Following this season, the Swede moved to Mannheim's ERC in the ice hockey Bundesliga , for which he scored 16 goals in 36 games and provided 23 assists.

In the summer of 1991 Bergqvist returned to his former club Leksands IF, for which he played until 1998. The 1994 Olympic champion was then committed by VEU Feldkirch from Austria , with whom he won the Alpine League in the 1998/99 season . Following this success, the left-handed shooter ended his career at the age of 36.

International

For Sweden , Bergqvist took part in the 1982 Junior World Championships and the 1986 , 1987 , 1989 , 1991 , 1993 , 1994 , 1995 , 1996 and 1998 World Championships . He was also in Sweden's squad at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary and 1994 in Lillehammer, as well as at the 1996 World Cup of Hockey .
