Karl Peter Åslin (born September 21, 1962 in Norrtälje ; † January 19, 2012 in Leksand ) was a Swedish ice hockey goalkeeper who played for AIK Solna , Leksands IF and HV71 in the Elitserien during his active time from 1976 to 1999 . His son David Åslin is also a professional ice hockey player.
Career
Peter Åslin began his career as an ice hockey player in his hometown in the youth department of Norrtälje IK, for whose senior team he was active from 1976 to 1979 in Division 2 , which was still third at the time . Then the goalkeeper moved to the youth department of AIK Solna , for whose professional team he ran from 1980 to 1984 in the Elitserien , the highest Swedish division. With AIK he won the Swedish championship title in the 1981/82 and 1983/84 seasons . In addition, he was runner- up with the team in the 1980/81 season. For the 1984/85 season he joined the Mora IK from Division 1, which was then still second class .
From 1985 to 1990 Åslin played for Leksands IF , with whom he was also runner- up in the 1988/89 season . He then also spent five years at HV71 , with whom he became Swedish champions for the third time in his career in the 1994/95 season . For the 1995/96 season he returned to his hometown club Norrtälje IK in the then fourth-class Division 3 . He bridged the 1996/97 season in Germany in what was then the second-class 1st League North at ETC Timmendorfer Strand . In the following season he stood again for Leksands IF in the Elitserien between the posts. Most recently, he spent the 1998/99 season with Kärpät Oulu from the Finnish SM-liiga and with the London Knights from the British Ice Hockey Superleague . Subsequently, his career ended at the age of 37.
International
For Sweden , Åslin took part in the junior division at the U18 European Junior Championships in 1980 and the U20 World Junior Championships in 1980 , 1981 and 1982 . At the U18 European Championships in 1980 and the U20 World Cup in the same year, he and his team won the bronze medal and the gold medal at the U20 World Cup in 1981.
In the senior sector, he was in his country's squad at the 1986 , 1989 , 1990 , 1992 and 1993 World Championships and the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary . He won one gold and three silver medals with Sweden at world championships and a bronze medal at the 1988 Winter Olympics.
