Romania took part in the 2004 Summer Olympics in the Greek capital Athens with 108 athletes, 58 women and 50 men.

Since 1900 it was the 18th participation of Romania in the Summer Olympic Games .

Flag bearer

The rower Elisabeta Lipă carried the flag of Romania during the opening ceremony in the Olympic Stadium .

Medalist

With eight won gold, five silver and six bronze medals, the Romanian team finished 14th in the medals table .
