Iulian Raicea (born March 4, 1973 in Bucharest ) is a former Romanian sports shooter .
successes
Iulian Raicea took part in five Olympic Games . In 1992 he took 13th place with the rapid fire pistol in Barcelona , and in 1996 in Atlanta he was 11th. At the Olympic Games in Sydney in 2000 , he finally qualified first with 587 points for the final. In this he scored 97.6 points and finished third with a lead of 0.1 points over Emil Milew and a total of 684.6 points behind Sergei Alifirenko and Michel Ansermet , so that he received the bronze medal. Four years later he also took part in the competition with the air pistol for the first time, in which he reached 39th place. With the rapid-fire pistol, he moved into the final again, which he finished in fifth place with 687.6 points. In 2008 he finished the competition with the air pistol in 43rd place and with the rapid fire pistol in ninth place.
Raicea won the bronze medal with the rapid fire pistol at the 1998 World Championships in Barcelona. He is married and has two children.
After the 2008 Games, he ended his active career and became national coach for the Thai Association. He resigned in 2012 after being ordained a priest of the Russian Orthodox Church , which became incompatible with his coaching post.
