The ISSF ( I nternational S hooting S port F ederation) is the recipient of various shooting disciplines which are operated throughout the world of sport shooters. The association was founded in 1907 as Union Internationale des Fédérations et Associations Nationales de Tir , in 1921 the official name was changed to Union Internationale de Tir (UIT). After the English term International Shooting Union had been used occasionally in previous years, the name was finally changed to ISSF at the 1998 General Assembly in Barcelona .

Disciplines

The rifle set of rules includes the following disciplines:

  • 300 m rifle,
  • 300 m standard rifle,
  • 50 m rifle and
  • 10 m air rifle .

The air rifle is shot standing up. The 50 and 300 m disciplines are shot lying down, standing, kneeling or lying down.

The pistol set of rules includes the following disciplines (the traditional designation in brackets):

Throwing disc

The throwing disc rules include the following disciplines:

  • Trap
  • Automatic trap
  • Double trap
  • Skeet

Running disc

The running target rules encompass the following disciplines:

  • 50 m,
  • 50 m mix,
  • 10 m and
  • 10 m mix.
