Liliana Gafencu
Liliana Gafencu (born July 12, 1975 in Suceava ) is a Romanian rower . With three Olympic gold medals, she is one of the most successful rowers.
She studied sport at the University of George Bacovia Bacau . From 1996 to 2004, Gafencu won the Olympic gold medal three times in a row with the Romanian eighth . With Elisabeta Lipă , Doina Ignat , Liliana Gafencu and helmsman Elena Georgescu , four athletes took part in all three Olympic victories.
Liliana Gafencu was also in the Romanian world champion eighth in 1997 and 1998, and in 2003 she was runner-up behind the German boat with eighth.
In 2004 Gafencu was made an honorary citizen of Suceava.
