Veronica Cochela (born November 15, 1965 in Iași as Veronica Cogeanu ) is a former Romanian rower. With two Olympic gold medals, three silver medals and one bronze medal, she is one of the most successful rowers .

At the rowing world championships in 1986 she won under her maiden name Cogeanu together with Elisabeta Lipă silver in the double scull behind Sylvia Schwabe and Martina Schröter from the GDR. At the Olympic Games in 1988 Cogeanu and Lipa again won silver behind Birgit Peter and Martina Schröter. Cogeanu and Lipă also sat in the Romanian quadruple and won bronze there.

After her marriage, she entered the 1989 World Rowing Championships as Veronica Cochela. Together with Lipă she won silver behind Beate Schramm and Jana Sorgers . 1990 Cochela rowed at the world championships in eight and was World Champion in 1991, she won bronze. For the 1992 Olympic Games , Cochela returned to sculling boats . With Elisabeta Lipă she won silver behind Kerstin Köppen and Kathrin Boron , while Lipă won gold in single , Cochela received silver in double fours together with Constanța Pipotă , Doina Ignat and Anișoara Bălan-Dobre behind the German boat.

In 1993 she switched to eighth with Pipota and Ignat. The world championship title in 1993 was followed by bronze in 1994 and silver in 1995. The golden years for the Romanian eighth followed with the 1996 Olympic victory in Atlanta and the world championship titles in 1997 and 1998. In 2000, Cochela won her second gold medal at her fourth Olympic Games .
