The Red Riding Hood Mumm champagne producers GmbH (short-RM) in Freyburg (Unstrut) is Germany's largest producer of sparkling wine and also produces wine and spirits such as brandy , blight and liqueur .
Group development
The Rotkäppchen-Mumm sparkling wine cellars were created on January 16, 2002 from the takeover of the sparkling wine brands Mumm , Jules Mumm and MM Extra from the Canadian Seagram Company Ltd. including the production sites in Eltville am Rhein and Hochheim am Main by Rotkäppchen Sektkellerei GmbH .
The Geldermann private sparkling wine cellar, which produces sparkling wine exclusively in traditional bottle fermentation , was taken over by Rotkäppchen-Mumm on January 27, 2003, and the Kloss & Foerster brand was purchased on December 21, 2005 - the name of the company that has been selling sparkling wine under the name Rotkäppchen since 1894 made - back. In 2006, Eckes Spirituosen & Wein GmbH, owned by the majority owners of Rotkäppchen, the Eckes-Chantré family, was sold to Rotkäppchen-Mumm, so that Nordbrand Nordhausen , too , since January 23, 1991 100% subsidiary of Eckes AG - belongs to the Rotkäppchen-Mumm sparkling wine cellars. In the summer of 2015, Rotkäppchen-Mumm took over Drinks & Food GmbH with its production site in Zahna and various liqueur brands, whose production is to be discontinued, via its spirits subsidiary Nordbrand . In November 2015, the purchase of the Italian aperitif brand Sprizzero De Martin was announced.
58 percent of the group today belongs to the Eckes-Chantré family, 42 percent to the shareholders Gunter Heise (spokesman for the management until 2013, today chairman of the advisory board), Jutta Polomski (member of the management until 2007), Lutz Lange and Ulrich Wiegel, who run the company In 1993, as part of a management buy-out, together with Harald Eckes-Chantré and his daughters Petra Roller and Christina Oelbermann from the Treuhandanstalt .

Following the takeover of the Italian Prosecco manufacturer Ruggeri in Valdobbiadene in 2017, the takeover of the traditional Bremen company Eggers & Franke was announced on March 9, 2018 .
