Ludwig Eckes

Ludwig Eckes (born April 28, 1913 in Nieder-Olm ; † January 14, 1984 there ) was a German entrepreneur ( Eckes AG ).

Life

After attending elementary school and the Mainz high school, Eckes began an apprenticeship at Deutsche Bank in Mainz in 1929 . From 1931 he completed his apprenticeship and traveling years with stays in France and England.

On October 1, 1931, he returned to Nieder-Olm and joined the family business that had existed since 1857 . From 1931 to 1984 he was personally liable partner of the Peter Eckes company. From 1973 until his death he was spokesman for the advisory board. During this time, the range was streamlined and the company logo "Eckes", which is still used today, was developed. After the Second World War he worked on rebuilding the company together with his cousin Peter Eckes , with the aim of manufacturing branded products.

Ludwig Eckes was married to Marianne Chantré from 1938 and had two children, a son and a daughter. Son Harald Eckes-Chantré is a member of the board of the Eckes group of companies.

Awards and honors

In 1963 the Nieder-Olm community made him an honorary citizen. In 1977 he became chairman of the Association of German Wine Distilleries (VdW). On his 70th birthday in 1983, the VdW awarded him the Weinbrenner guild seal. In January 1984 he was appointed honorary chairman of the VdW. In 1978 the Federal Association of the German Spirits Industry and Importers (BSI) elected him as its President, and in 1981 as Honorary President.
