Explorer 35 (also known as IMP-E or AIMP E ) was a lunar satellite owned by the US space agency NASA .
The spacecraft was a spin stabilized and was used to research the magnetic field in lunar orbit . Its rate of rotation was 25.6 revolutions per minute.
Explorer 35 was on July 19, 1967 a Delta-E - carrier rocket from the Cape Canaveral launch. In contrast to the earlier launched sister probe Explorer 33 , which was stranded in an earth orbit, Explorer 35 reached an elliptical orbit around the moon and was taken out of service on June 24, 1973.
