The Mariacron Monastery in Oppenheim

Mariacron is a protected brand for a brandy . It has an alcohol content of 36  % vol.

The name Mariacron comes from the Mariacron monastery near the town of Oppenheim . After the city fire of 1689, the former women's monastery was largely demolished, so that there are only a few remains of the monastery today. The Mariacron monastery distillery was built in its place and had been producing the brandy in Oppenheim since 1894.

In 1961 the Eckes AG company acquired the monastery distillery and in 1962 introduced the Mariacron brandy nationally . For reasons of rationalization, Eckes relocated production in the 1980s and used the premises as a warehouse.

In January 2007 a new residential and commercial use was initiated for the site, whereby the memory of the monastery and the wine distillery should be preserved.
