Anișoara Bălan
Anișoara Bălan , from 1991 Anișoara Dobre , (born July 1, 1966 in Liteni ) is a former Romanian rower who won two Olympic medals.
Athletic career
The 1.76 m tall Anișoara Bălan took third place in the double scull at the Junior World Championships in 1983 , and in 1984 she won the single . At the World Championships in 1985 in adult class Anisoara Bălan came in quadruple sculls , winning with Veronica Cogeanu , Anisoara Sorohan and Maricica Iordache the bronze medal behind the boats from the GDR and the Soviet Union. The following year Doina Ciucanu-Robu moved on for Cogeanu, and at the World Championships in Nottingham , the Romanian four-man came second behind the GDR boat. At the World Championships in 1987 , the boat from the GDR won ahead of Bulgaria and the Soviet Union, the Romanian four with Bălan, Ciucanu-Robu, Cogeanu and Sorohan took fourth place. At the Olympic Games in 1988 , the GDR foursome won ahead of the Soviet boat, Bălan, Minea (-Sorohan), Cogeanu and Elisabeta Lipă received the bronze medal.
After a two-year break and a change of name through marriage, she returned as Anișoara Dobre with two medals at the 1991 World Championships . With Elisabeta Lipă she won silver in double sculls, with Constanța Burcică , Doina Ignat and Fanica Costea she received bronze in double sculls. At the 1992 Olympic Games , the German boat won the double fours, followed by Anișoara Dobre, Doina Ignat, Constanța Burcică and Veronica Cochela (-Cogeanu) the silver medal.
Anișoara Bălan is married to the rower Dănuț Dobre . Her sister Doina Bălan , who is even more successful with four Olympic medals, is married to the rower Ioan Șnep .

- ↑ According to the FISA rudder database , Anișoara competed in the Romanian eighth in 1984 and 1989. These assignments contradict the Olympic database for 1984 and the overview of the World Championships in figure eight for 1989 . According to these sources, it must have been her sister Doina.
