Citycon is a Finnish company that owns, develops and operates shopping centers and other commercial properties in Northern Europe . It is a member of EPRA .
The largest properties under the management of Citycon include the Iso Omena shopping centers in Espoo and the Kista Galleria in Stockholm .
history
Citycon was founded in 1988 by Sampo , Imatran Voima , Rakennustoimisto A. Puolimatka and Postipankki , and the shares have been listed on the Helsinki Stock Exchange since November 22, 1988 . Originally, investments were made in office space before the reorientation towards commercial real estate took place in 1997.
In 2005 the company started expanding into Sweden and Estonia.
In August 2007 Citycon acquired the Iso Omena shopping center in Espoo for around 329 million euros, but in the following year it passed 40% on to the Singaporean sovereign wealth fund GIC . Citycon bought back the shares in October 2014.
In December 2012, the company purchased with the Canadian pension fund Canada Pension Plan Investment Board (CPPIB) , the Kista Galleria in Stockholm.
At the end of 2014 Citycon owned 35 shopping centers and 25 other commercial properties. Of the shopping centers, 21 were in Finland , 10 in Sweden , 3 in Estonia and one in Denmark .
In May 2015 Citycon took over Sector Groups , an operator of 20 shopping centers in Norway, for 1.47 billion euros .
