The GIC Private Limited , formerly Government of Singapore Investment Corporation (GIC) is similar to Temasek Holdings , a body responsible for management of state funds authority simultaneously several sovereign wealth funds of the State of Singapore managed.

The first investment fund under the GIC mantle was founded in 1981.

The company does not provide detailed information about its investments. It manages investments of over $ 100 billion. The GIC states that it does not act as a strategic investor and therefore does not seek majority stakes.

Investments

  • In August 2006, she bought the Uptown Munich skyscraper and one of the campus buildings for over 300 million euros. The building was sold again in 2017.
  • In spring 2008 bought fund of the Ministry of around 9 billion euros accounted for 9% of the shares of Swiss banking giant UBS and invested at the same time around 4.4 billion euros into the banking giant Merrill Lynch .
  • At the end of 2010, the Opernturm in Frankfurt am Main was bought for around EUR 550 million from a joint venture between GIC and an institutional fund.
  • Since February 2016, GIC has held a 49% stake in the locomotive rental company Railpool .
  • In December 2016, GIC invested in the online spatial data service Here . Together with the Chinese companies Navinfo and Tencent, they took over 10% of the shares in the company, in which Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Intel, Bosch and Continental also hold shares.
