Pacification

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Pacification (out of date) or pacification ( Latin pacificatio, pacificare ; pazify: to create peace, German to pacify ) is peacemaking or the return of a country that is at war or in turmoil to a state of peace .

During the Second World War , the word was used with a different meaning: In the military jargon of the Wehrmacht and in propaganda depictions, “pacification” was used euphemistically , for example for the destruction of a village and the subsequent murder or expulsion of its residents.
