Elizabeth McCagg

Elizabeth "Betsy" McCagg Hills (born April 29, 1967 in Kirkland , Washington ) is an American rower.

Life

Growing up in a family that had produced a number of rowers, Elizabeth McCagg and her twin sister Mary came into contact with rowing at an early age.

McCagg and her sister attended Lakeside School , a private high school in Seattle . They then studied at Harvard University and were active in the rowing team there.

During her time in the US National Rowing Team , she took part in the Summer Olympics in 1992 , 1996 and 2000 , among others . She won a total of five medals at rowing world championships . In 1995 , for example, she achieved gold in the women's eighth .

In 2012, she and her sister were inducted into the US National Rowing Hall of Fame by the National Rowing Foundation .
