Félix Gaiffe

Félix Gaiffe (born January 1874 in Besançon , † September 28, 1934 in Nice ) was a French Romance studies and drama scholar .

life and work

Gaiffe was a high school teacher in Verdun, Lons-le-Saunier, Grenoble, Besançon, Lyon and Paris. He completed his habilitation with the Thèses Le drame en France au XVIIIe siècle (Paris 1910, 1970, Geneva 2011) and (Ed.) Thomas Sébillet, Art poétique françoys 1548 (Paris 1910, 1932, 1973, 1988). In 1926 he became maître de conférences at the Sorbonne , and in 1934 he was a full professor of theater history, but died shortly afterwards of a heart attack.
