Mary McCagg

Mary Randolph McCagg Larin (born April 29, 1967 in Kirkland , Washington ) is an American rower.

Life

Raised in a family that had produced a number of rowers, Mary McCagg and her twin sister Elizabeth came into contact with rowing at an early age.

McCagg and her sister attended Lakeside School , a private high school in Seattle . They then studied at Harvard University and were active in the rowing team there. Mary McCagg, who studied child psychology, graduated cum laude in 1989 . After graduating, she started working for a children's book publisher. Today she works for Candlewick Press in Cambridge.

From 1989 to 1997 she was a member of the US National Rowing Team and won eleven national championships during this time, as well as various medals at the World Rowing Championships and the Pan-American Games . In 1992 and 1996 she took part in the Summer Olympic Games . After her playing career, McCagg became a member of the United States Olympic Committee and the United States Rowing Association . At the 2004 Summer Olympics , she was a member of the US delegation as Assistant Chef de Mission .

Mary McCagg has been married to rower Kane Michael Larin since 1999.

In 2012, she and her sister were inducted into the US National Rowing Hall of Fame by the National Rowing Foundation .
