Emily Martin (born May 9, 1979 in Melbourne ) is a former Australian rower . In 2001 and 2005 she was world champion in eighth place .

Athletic career

At the U23 World Championships in 1998, Emily Martin won the four-man title without a helmsman . In 1999 she first appeared at the World Championships in the adult class and finished fifth with the Australian eighth. In the 2000 Rowing World Cup , the Australian eighth finished third twice. In front of a home crowd at the Olympic Games in Sydney , the boat achieved fifth place, as at the World Championships last year. At the 2001 World Championships , Emily Martin competed in two boat classes: with Kristina Larsen , she took fourth place in the two without a helmsman , both rowers were also in the eighth, which won the title. In 2002 Martin only competed in two, together with Monique Heinke she finished sixth at the World Championships in Seville .

After a long break, Emily Martin returned to the regatta courses in 2005. With Robyn Selby Smith , Pauline Frasca and Kate Hornsey she won the World Championships in Gifu in a four-man without a helmsman; the four rowers were also a member of the Australian eight, which also won the title. At the Rowing World Championships in Eton in 2006 , Martin also competed in two boat classes: With Sarah Heard , she finished ninth in a two-man without helmsman and with eighth, Heard and Martin won the bronze medal.
