Fiona Gammond

Fiona Gammond (born October 19, 1992 ) is a British rower .

Athletic career

Fiona Gammond won the title at the 2010 Junior World Championships in Račice u Štětí with the British eighth . Georgia Howard-Merrill and Fiona Gammond competed ten days after the Junior World Championships at the Youth Olympic Games in Singapore, where they won the two-man title without a helmsman .

From 2012 to 2014 Fiona Gammond competed three times with the British eighth at the U23 World Championships , after a fourth place in 2012 she won the silver medal twice. In 2016 she entered the adult class. The British four-man without helmsman with Fiona Gammond, Donna Etiebet , Holly Nixon and Holly Norton won the World Championships in Rotterdam ahead of the four-man from the United States.

In 2017 Fiona Gammond moved into the British eight. After a fourth place at the European Championships on the Račice rowing channel , the eighth finished at the World Championships in Sarasota, fifth place, almost three seconds behind silver and bronze. In 2018 Fiona Gammond competed in both the four and eight in the Rowing World Cup . At the European Championships in Glasgow she won the silver medal in eighth behind the Romanians. At the World Championships in Plovdiv , she finished sixth with eighth. In 2019 at the European Championships in Lucerne, as in the previous year, the Romanians won ahead of the British. Overseas boats won the World Championships in Linz / Ottensheim . Behind New Zealand, Australia, the USA and Canada, the British came in fifth ahead of the Romanians. Linked to fifth place was the direct qualification for the Olympic Games .

The 1.82 m tall Fiona Gammond belongs to the Leander Club .
