Anna Cummins

Anna Cummins (birth name Anna Mickelson (until 2007); born March 21, 1980 in Seattle ) is a former American rower who won two Olympic medals.

Athletic career

Anna Mickelson started rowing in 1998. The 1.80 m tall rower studied at the University of Washington , started for the university team of Washington Huskies and trained at the Pocock Rowing Center . At the (unofficial) U23 World Championships in 2000, she won the gold medal in the foursome without a helmsman . In 2002 she won her first world title with the American eighth . The following year, the US eight finished fifth at the World Championships in Milan . At the 2004 Olympic Games , the Romanian eighth won ahead of the big boat from the USA.

In 2005 Anna Mickelson competed in the double fours and took fifth place at the World Championships in Gifu . In 2006 she rowed with Megan Cooke in two without a helmsman , the two of whom won the World Cup regatta in Lucerne , among other things . At the 2006 World Championships in Eton , Mickelson and Cooke finished fourth. The two also competed in Eton with eighth and won the world title here. In 2007 Mickelson rowed again in two with Megan Cooke, who was canceled before the World Championships. At the 2007 World Championships , Mickelson finished seventh in a pair with Portia McGee and won the title in eight. Anna Cummins, as she was called after their marriage in September 2007, also competed in two boat classes at the Olympic Games in Beijing . As at the World Championships the year before, she finished seventh with Portia McGee in two and won the title in eight.
