Jeanne Flanagan

Jeanne Ann Flanagan (born May 8, 1957 in New Haven , Connecticut ) is a former American rower who was 1984 Olympic champion with the eighth .

The 1.77 m tall Jeanne Flanagan from the Boston Rowing Club won the bronze medal behind the eight from the Soviet Union and the GDR at the 1979 World Championships with the US eight . Carol Bower , Carol Brown , Jeanne Flanagan and Patricia Spratlin from the 1979 eighth also sat two years later in the boat that won the silver medal behind the Soviet eighth at the 1981 World Championships .

After a two-year hiatus, Jeanne Flanagan returned to the US eighth in 1984. In the 1984 Olympics , the Soviet world champions were missing due to the Olympic boycott . The US boat with six vice world champions from the previous year as well as Jeanne Flanagan, Kathryn Keeler and helmsman Betsy Beard won with one second ahead of the Romanians. At the 1985 World Championships , only Flanagan and Beard from the Olympic boat were in the US eighth place, three tenths of a second behind the Romanians, while gold and silver went to the Soviet Union and the GDR.
