Andrea Kurth

Andrea Kurth (born September 30, 1957 in Breitenbrunn / Erzgeb .; After marriage: Andrea Sredzki ) is a former rower from the GDR . She won Olympic gold in a foursome with a helmswoman in 1976 .

In 1976 Andrea Kurth from SC Einheit Dresden sat in the GDR foursome trained by Richard Wecke, which was made up of Karin Metze , Bianka Schwede , Gabriele Lohs , Andrea Kurth and taxwoman Sabine Hess . At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal, women's rowing had its Olympic premiere. The boats from the GDR won four gold medals and two silver medals in the six boat classes. The first decision was the four with a helmsman and here the Dresden boat won the first Olympic gold medal in women's rowing. In 1977 all five rowers from the gold foursome sat in the GDR eighth after they had previously won the GDR championships.

In 1976 she was awarded the Silver Patriotic Order of Merit .

In 1980 Andrea Kurth married the rowing world champion from 1978 Gerd Sredzki . The qualified sports teacher later worked as a youth trainer.
