Maria Fricioiu , until 1980 Maria Tănasă , (born March 16, 1960 in Grădinari , Iași district ) is a former Romanian rower .

The 1.81 m tall rower won the bronze medal in the foursome with helmswoman at the 1979 World Championships together with Georgeta Militaru-Maşca , Florica Silaghi , Valeria Avram and helmsman Aneta Matei . At the 1980 Olympic Games , the Romanian four-man finished fourth in the same line-up.

After a two-year break, Maria Fricioiu returned under her married name. At the 1983 World Championships , the Romanian four-man with Florica Lavric , Maria Fricioiu, Chira Apostol , Olga Homeghi and helmsman Viorica Ioja won the silver medal behind the boat from the GDR . The boats from the GDR started like all the athletes from the Eastern bloc due to the Olympic boycott not with the 1984 Olympic Games , only the Romanian team went to in Los Angeles. The foursome in the 1983 line-up won the Olympic gold medal ahead of the Canadians. The Romanian four-man rowed in the same line-up at the 1985 World Championships, behind the GDR and ahead of the Canadians, the boat won the silver medal at the 1985 World Championships .
